I Am Deeply Aware Of Your Struggles - Tinubu Tells Nigerians In Independence Day Speech

A former commissioner, Musa Kwankwaso has warned President Bola Tinubu not to enter into any agreement with the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso.

He alleged that Kwankwaso had a tendency of reneging on political agreements.

Kwankwaso, who served as a commissioner under the administration of ex-governor Abdullahi Ganduje, said that any agreement Tinubu wants to have with the NNPP stalwart must be in the presence of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Kano.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday, the APC chieftain said, “It is no longer a secret that President Tinubu met with Kwankwaso to discuss a possible merger of his party with the ruling APC. However, this should be done with care and caution.

“The President would do well to include Kano APC leaders in all discussions he has with Kwankwaso, including the Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Bichi, State Housing Minister, Tijjani Gwarzo, and the state APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, as well as other elected officials, and above all, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

“I say this because I know the kind of person Kwankwaso is. It would not be difficult for him to betray the talks, regardless of the fact that they are with the President. Therefore, it is essential to have your party leaders, especially from Kano, as witnesses.”

According to the ex-commissioner, Kwankwaso will be the biggest beneficiary of the rumoured planned alliance because he is already losing ground in the NNPP.

President Tinubu should know that Kwankwaso is losing ground in the NNPP because many of his party loyalists, including some elected officials from Nasarawa State, are abandoning the party for the APC.

“Even in Kano, Kwankwaso’s stronghold in the NNPP is gradually losing relevance, with many supporters leaving the party, and some top elected National Assembly members are also reportedly on their way out.

“As a professional and astute politician, I believe President Tinubu understands why Kwankwaso is jittery now—he is losing his political relevance, which is why he is willing to accept any position offered by the APC government,”
the ex-commissioner said.
