Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed why the press would prefer to talk to the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the voice of the opposition in the country.
Fayose, on Sunday, during an interview appearance on Channels Television, said the crisis and functionalization within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would make newsmen ignore the party and its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
He urged Atiku to drop any presidential ambition for 2027.
The former Governor also ruled out the chances of the PDP defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the PDP is almost non-existent as things stand, and Peter Obi is the voice of the opposition.
”As I always say, we can defeat the APC but when we don’t have a party again, how can we defeat them?” he queried.
Fayose further lamented the leadership crisis rocking the PDP.
According to him, “When we complain about the APC and we don’t have a party and you can say you will do this and that, but when Obi is the voice of the opposition now.
“The press will call Obi than call the PDP and when the Publicity Secretary is suspending people and vice-versa, so where is the party?”
