The Acting National Chairperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, met with Governor Bala Mohammed at the Bauchi State Government House on Friday to address pressing issues within the party.
Damagum’s visit follows recent turmoil in the PDP, including a factional decision to suspend him and appoint Yayari Mohammed as the new acting national chairperson. The meeting aimed to foster dialogue and seek resolutions to the internal conflicts currently plaguing the party.
In his remarks, Damagum emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among party members to navigate the challenges ahead.
Governor Mohammed, as chair of the PDP Governors Forum, reiterated his commitment to supporting Damagum and working with other governors to restore stability and coherence within the party.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting with the PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, he said, “You can see the chairmen of the North-east PDP with me. They came here also to support me to reiterate their commitment that the North-east, where they come from, is one and also they believe in the leadership of the governors forum’s chairman.
“Today we came for a friendly visit to discuss many things.”
Damagum equally warned Nigerians against voting for incompetent leaders in the 2027 general election.
The embattled PDP acting chairperson lamented that many Nigerians are suffering due to the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He said, “There is a need for Nigerians to prioritise credibility when choosing leaders; those who collected spaghetti and wrappers to bring in the present government are feeling it more than anybody else.”
