Governor Babagana Zulum‘s government has designated ten housing units for school teachers in the Buratai community, located within the Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
On Friday, October 11, Governor Zulum inaugurated a secondary school project in Tum village and Biu.
Zulum highlighted that the housing initiative consists of 10 two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows specifically designed to meet the housing requirements of teachers, particularly those serving in rural areas.
He emphasized that these projects are intended to revitalize the education sector and improve the living standards of educators in the region.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to alleviate the housing shortage and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing access to quality education and healthcare services throughout the state.
“I want to assure you that this administration is committed to providing an affordable, quality healthcare delivery system and most importantly, education, which is the bedrock for any meaningful development.
“Without education, there will be no meaningful development,” he said.
Earlier this week, the Borno State government received a donation of 1.2 million Euros from the Swiss Federation as contributed to the Borno State Flood Disaster Relief Fund.
Naija News reports that the fund aims to provide essential assistance to those affected by the recent flood disaster in the state.
This contribution was revealed by the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Nicolas Lang, who headed a delegation from the Swiss Embassy during a condolence visit to the government house in Maiduguri.
Nicolas Martin-Achard, the Senior Humanitarian Advisor, and Mr. Florent Geel, the Senior Political Advisor at the Swiss Embassy, joined Ambassador Lang.
Lang noted that Switzerland had previously supported the Borno Model in 2023 with approximately 700,000 USD.
