The Presidency has appealed to Nigerians to be calm and show understanding amid the current economic reforms by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Naija News reports that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Delu Bulus-Yakubu, made the appeal on Thursday in an address to mark the 2024 International Poverty Eradication Day in Abuja.

The event was themed Ending Social and Institutional Maltreatment, Acting Together for Peaceful, Inclusive Society

Yakubu said Tinubu’s government is working hard to address the economic situation in the country.

She also urged Nigerians to support the administration to deliver on its mandate and move the country to the next level.

She said, “I want to use this platform to plead with Nigerians with the present economy, the hardship is surmountable and it is a gradual process.

“Please let’s be calm, show understanding and support the renewed hope of the administration to see our country move to the next level.

“I want to assure Nigerians today that the present administration is working hard and introducing so many policies that will cushion the hardship in our dear country.”

Nigerians Not Benefiting From Your Reforms

In a related news, Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has criticized the policies of the incumbent government led by President Bola Tinubu, stating that Nigerians are not benefitting from these reforms.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor’s Forum urged the Tinubu government to reassess its existing monetary and fiscal policies, asserting that they are not functioning effectively.

Speaking during the launch of the Nigeria Development Update in Abuja on Thursday, Mohammed said there is hunger in the country, reiterating that the people are suffering.

The PDP chieftain emphasized the necessity for the government to adopt a more flexible approach, highlighting the pressing need for reform in light of the increasing hardships faced by citizens.
