Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Ikorodu City, have officially announced the departure of their head coach, Bright Ozebagbe, due to a poor run of games.
The Oga Boys confirmed Bright Ozebagbe’s resignation in a statement released on their official social media account on Monday, October 7, 2024.
“Ikorodu City Football Club can confirm the resignation of Bright Ozebagbe as the head coach of the team,” the statement reads.
“The club received Ozebagbe’s resignation letter last night following the 1-0 defeat to Plateau United in Jos.
“The club will be appointing a new coach in the upcoming days.”
Bright Ozebagbe was instrumental in guiding the team to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.
Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t help Ikorodu City to record any win in the club’s five NPFL games so far this season as they remain bottom of the league table.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa United’s technical director, Kabiru Dogo, expressed his disappointment with the goalless draw against Bayelsa United.
Dogo highlighted that his team had numerous opportunities to clinch victory in the game.
However, he praised the players for their determination throughout the match.
“I am dissatisfied that we couldn’t score against our opponents. We had chances, but our finishing let us down,” Dogo said.
“Nevertheless, I am proud of my boys; they were unfortunate today. Our away performances have been decent, but at home, it’s a different story.
“However, that’s the nature of football. The league is progressing, and what matters most now is for a team to play well and score more goals than the opposition.
“Over time, we will overcome this and start winning our home games.
“We will focus on improving our attacking play and aim to bounce back in the upcoming matches.”
