According to Vanguard, a local source stated that unidentified individuals had earlier entered the community, warning residents not to participate in the election.
As electoral officers prepared to arrive at the ward in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, armed bandits also appeared, unleashing a barrage of gunfire.
The gunmen, whose identities remain unknown, effectively took control of the area, instilling fear among residents and preventing them from coming out to vote.
