Osun Police Command Parades Yoruba Nation Agitators

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday, paraded three individuals suspected of being leaders of the Yoruba nation‘s agitators.​


The individuals are accused of promoting a secessionist agenda.

Naija News understands that the arrested individuals, Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, 61, Joy Faseyeku, 63, and Alabede Janet, 64, were apprehended at Obada market in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State while distributing materials and advocating for the formation of a Yoruba nation.

In a press release on Wednesday, the acting Public Relations Officer of the Command, Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, mentioned that the trio were caught with an Oodua Nation flag, a tripod, a megaphone, two mobile phones, leaflets, and a cap bearing the Yoruba nation’s emblem.

The statement added: “One Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, male, 61years, a native of Akure, Ondo State, was arrested in Obada Market, Ikire on August 27, addressing marketers to embrace and support the Yoruba Nation. He urged traders in the market to denounce their allegiance to Nigeria as a Nation.

“The suspect claimed the entity called Nigeria ended in 2014 after 100 years of amalgamation and displayed the Yoruba Nation’s flag in the process. After his arrest, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after a preliminary investigation.

“Through diligent investigation, Joy Faseyiku ‘f’ 63years and Alabede Janet ‘f’ 64years were arrested in Osogbo and Ikire town respectively in connection with the crime. An investigation has been concluded, and the suspects have been charged to Federal High Court accordingly.”
