France Football, the organization behind the Ballon d’Or, recently released a video showcasing Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who has been nominated for this year’s edition of the award.
The video, shared on their official X account, highlights Ademola Lookman’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s Super Eagles during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Lookman played a pivotal role in helping the Super Eagles of Nigeria reach the AFCON final, scoring three goals and providing an assist during the tournament.
Furthermore, the video emphasized Lookman’s impact on Atalanta’s historic Europa League triumph during the 2024-2025 season. Notably, he scored a remarkable hat-trick as Atalanta secured a 3-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen in the final.
Recall that before the Europa League final, Bayer Leverkusen were unbeaten in all competitions and were just crowned champions of the German Bundesliga.
Having been shortlisted among the top 30 players for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or, Ademola Lookman is set to compete with football stars such as Kylian Mbappe, Rodri, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham for the prestigious individual award.
His impressive performance over the review period, which includes 22 goals and 11 assists in 61 appearances for both Nigeria and Atalanta, has firmly positioned him as a strong contender for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
