The manager of Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany has responded to critics who have been arguing that the German Bundesliga giants were too big for him to handle.

Vincent Kompany went into coaching in 2019 as an assistant coach of Anderlecht and transitioned to the team’s head coach in 2020.

In 2022, the 38-year-old former Manchester City captain was appointed the head coach of Burnley. He helped them gain promotion to the Premier League but failed to keep them in the league at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Weeks after Burnley’s relegation back to the Championship, Bayern Munich decided to appoint Vincent Kompany as their head coach. The appointment stunned most football enthusiasts because they felt since he failed to keep Burnley in the Premier League, it would be impossible for him to handle the star-studded Bayern side.

However, Kompany has proven his doubters wrong so far in all competitions. They are currently topping the German Bundesliga with a perfect 9 points, and they bashed Dinamo Zagreb, 9-2 in the UEFA Champions League, which is a record number of goals a team scored in a single UCL game.

After the emphatic victory, Vincent Kompany was dragged into discussing how people doubted his capacity to handle Bayern Munich.

The retired Belgium international said: “I’ll tell you something in a quick way just to prove a point.

“I was born in Brussels, my dad was a refugee who came from Congo.

“What are my chances of even playing in the Premier League, winning something as a player, playing for the national team? The odds were 0.000 something. Now I’m a coach.

“Do you just stop believing in yourself and what you can achieve because of what other people say?

“The mentality is to keep going, and in the end, if you fail, you fail; if you succeed, you succeed. But you can always become better.

“Online you can always find stuff so I really don’t take it personal.”
