The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised Christians on how to respond when their pastors reject tithes.
Speaking during the October edition of the RCCG Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye addressed the ongoing debates around tithing, which has sparked controversy in many Christian circles.
During his sermon, Adeboye called for an end to the arguments over tithing and urged believers to find peaceful solutions if their pastor refused to accept tithes.
He recounted a recent incident where one of his pastors preached against the practice, leading to confusion among church members.
“I want to beg everyone all over the world. Let this argument about tithe come to an end, please,” Adeboye said, stressing that believers should not abandon their church over such disagreements.
Instead, he advised them to respect their pastor’s wishes and give offerings if tithes were not welcomed.
However, Adeboye also suggested that those who feel personally convicted to tithe should seek another church where tithes are accepted.
“If your pastor says he doesn’t want tithe, don’t leave his church. If he says all he wants is offering, give him offering.
“But if your heart tells you that you should give God at least 10 per cent, find a church nearby where the pastor says, ‘We can collect tithe, we will use it for the glory of God,’ then give that pastor your tithe so you don’t quarrel with your pastor, and you don’t quarrel with God,” Adeboye explained.
